Nordic Solar’s largest solar power park is ready in Portugal
Danish energy company Nordic Solar is expanding its portfolio with an 80-hectare solar power park. This solar park called Ínsua is located in the Alentejo region in the southeastern part of Portugal and will supply 35,000 households with clean energy.
Nordic Solar is determined to make green energy accessible to even more households across Europe. We are proud of the considerable, positive impact that our new solar park Ínsua will have on Portugal. Portugal has set an ambitious target of lowering its CO2 emissions by doubling renewable energy production by 2030. Solar energy will play a substantial role in the country’s transition, as it is one of the countries with most sunshine in all of Europe.

The Ínsua solar power park has been developed and constructed by Nordic Solar’s project partner Chint Solar with optimization in mind from the outset. It utilizes a single-axis tracking system that can track the movements of sunbeams, ensuring to harvest most sunlight and convert it into more electricity.
Located in Copenhagen, Denmark, Nordic Solar was founded with a mission to develop, build and operate industrial-scale solar parks all over Europe.
“We have experienced significant growth ever since Nordic Solar A/S was established in 2010. With our capacity of 326 MWp of solar panels across Europe, we are one of the 50 most prominent players in solar energy in Europe. We are focused on the possibilities of new acquisitions and other opportunities for Nordic Solar A/S and our shareholders. Solar energy is more vital than ever before,” added CEO Nikolaj Holtet Hoff.
This new solar power park is Nordic Solar’s largest solar park to date. It supports the company’s ambitious goal of delivering 1 GWp of solar capacity by 2025.
Nordic Solar will also co-operate with Our New Energy as the adviser in the PPA for the Ínsua park, Axpo as its PPA partner, and the financial partner Banco Sabadell, S.A.
