LONGi launched solar industry’s first tailor-made metro train with the government

On World Earth Day, LONGi Green Energy Technology and the government launched the solar industry’s first tailor-made metro train in Xi’an, the capital of northwest China’s Shaanxi Province.

LONGi’s concept behind this sponsored train was developed to mark World Earth Day[1], established 53 years ago with a mission to raise global awareness of environmental protection and a low-carbon lifestyle.

The train serves as a mobile medium to present the ambitious renewable energy development goals of both the company and the country—and a mobile classroom to educate passengers of all ages and various backgrounds on the knowledge surrounding renewables and energy transition.

Paintings within the carriages of this train also showcase the scenarios for the future widespread applications of sustainable and renewable energy in China’s cities and villages.

LONGi’s aim is to give the public a better understanding of the importance of carbon emission reduction and the significance of green energy in mitigating the effects of climate change.

—explained George Huo, General Manager of the LONGi Group’s Brand Department

Founded in 2000, LONGi has become a leading green technology company globally. It participated in the EV100, EP100, RE100 and SBTi initiatives in 2020 to support the UN targets of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions and maintaining the global temperature increase to below 1.5°C.

If there were also tailor-made solar energy systems integrated with the train, it would foster better results in education.
